Ashley Reid is a Registered Midwife who provides personalized, evidence-based care through Vernon Midwifery at The Health Nest. She supports families through pre-conception, pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period with a calm, respectful approach centered on informed consent, clear communication, and one-to-one care.
Ashley believes each person deserves care that reflects their values, goals, and comfort. She is known for offering straightforward information, practical support, and time to help clients make informed choices with confidence.
Education & Background
Ashley earned her Bachelor of Health Sciences in Midwifery from McMaster University in 2018. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Guelph.
Before joining Vernon Midwifery, Ashley provided full-scope midwifery care in Medicine Hat, Alberta. She began her career there as a new registrant midwife and later served as Practice Lead for Midwives of Medicine Hat.
Her clinical training included hospital and community placements, as well as experience alongside lactation consultants, prenatal genetic counsellors, community social workers, and OB/GYNs. She has also served as Director at Large for the Alberta Association of Midwives.
As a parent herself, Ashley understands how meaningful and life-changing pregnancy and birth can be. She brings both professional experience and personal understanding to the care she provides.
Midwifery Care in Vernon
Registered midwives in BC are licensed primary care providers who support healthy pregnancies, births, and postpartum recovery. Their services are fully covered by the Medical Services Plan (MSP) for eligible residents.
Midwives offer prenatal care, attend births at home or in hospital, and provide postpartum care for up to six to eight weeks. Care is evidence-based, client-centered, and available 24/7. Midwives are an established part of the BC health care system and work closely with other health professionals to ensure safe, continuous care.
Ashley offers full-scope midwifery services, including:

- Postpartum care
- Lactation and feeding support
- Education and informed decision-making
Midwifery care with Ashley is covered under the BC Medical Services Plan (MSP). If you are not covered by MSP, private midwifery care is still available.
Postpartum Care in Vernon
Ashley provides midwifery-led postpartum care to support families during the early weeks after birth. Her care is grounded in warmth, clinical expertise, and respect for the physical and emotional changes that follow childbirth.
Postpartum care includes scheduled check-ins at home, in the clinic, or at the hospital, depending on your needs. Ashley offers lactation support, newborn health monitoring, emotional wellness support, and guidance on recovery, feeding, and infant care. Clients can also access on-call support for urgent concerns during this six-week period.
Postpartum care with Ashley is available to all BC residents with MSP coverage, even if you gave birth with a physician or another provider. If you’re not covered under MSP, private care options are also available.
Space is limited, so families are encouraged to submit a patient intake form early. Ashley’s care is personalized, practical, and focused on helping you feel informed, cared for, and well supported in the early days with your new baby.
