At The Health Nest, we offer midwifery-led postpartum care to support your recovery, your baby’s health, and your emotional well-being during this important stage. Vernon Postpartum Care
Postpartum care at The Health Nest is provided by Carrie Sizer, RM, a Registered Midwife with decades of experience. This care is available to anyone with active BC MSP, even if you did not receive prenatal or birth care with a midwife.
Our postpartum program includes home visits, clinic appointments, and flexible support during your baby’s first six weeks of life. Whether you’ve given birth with a midwife, a physician, or through a surgical birth, you are welcome to receive care here.
Carrie’s care is holistic, evidence-based, and tailored to each family’s needs. During your six weeks of care, you’ll receive:
- Monitoring of your recovery and well-being
- Newborn health checks and weight monitoring
- Breastfeeding and lactation support
- Assistance with feeding and sleep
- Jaundice and newborn screening coordination
- Guidance on newborn care and development
- Emotional support and mental health screening
- Routine postpartum testing (e.g., Pap tests, if needed)
- 24/7 on-call support for urgent concerns
Care may take place in your home, at The Health Nest clinic, or at the hospital, depending on your needs and preferences.
Available to All Birthing Mothers (no referral required)
You don’t need to have received prenatal care from a midwife to access postpartum support at The Health Nest. If you gave birth with a family doctor or obstetrician, you can still receive care from our midwifery team during the postpartum period. This includes in-home or clinic visits to support recovery, infant feeding, emotional wellness, and newborn care.
MSP Coverage for Postpartum Care
Anyone with active BC MSP coverage is eligible for postpartum care with a Registered Midwife, even if you gave birth under the care of a family doctor or obstetrician. This service is fully covered by MSP, with no cost to the client.
